Is there a way to distinguish if a 12lb solid black rabbit is New Zealand or Flemish? Is one's fur slightly longer, or ones head slimmer/larger/smaller in proportion? There doesn't seem to be any good info online how they are different other than weight - which 12lb could be either. Too bad there wasn't a way to DNA rabbit breeds!

Looking up some pics would help--both have distinctive features--head shape and body, plus the Flemish seem to have ears capable of hearing sounds over the horizon--we had one years ago and that was the largest set of ears ever and not nearly as stocky.

That’s why it’s so confusing . I have looked at picts … I’ve seen two different head shapes - one more narrow , one more squared….. though I see that shown in photos of both breeds ! (?) both seem to have really long ears …same body type and same coat ! ???
