Comments: This vet has bunnies too! I have never EVER had ... problems of any kind with my buns, either from any procedure she's done or from following her instructions on care and feeding explicitly. She really knows what she's doing ... Bob's ear mites were the first thing that had happened to [my buns] and she handled that with the utmost consideration for not hurting him in any way.

I definitely recommend this vet, in case anyone is in or around Springfield. She saved one of my rabbits, after 2 almost failed to save him, and she's also had him under anesthetic twice without any problems.

It is a fairly small practice and there is only one vet there. They are great with bunnies though and house them in pens, not cages. They also have a few resident bunnies and a very bunny friendly resident cat.

This clinic has changed it's name. It is now Kansas City Veterinary Care.

Kansas City Vet Care
7240 Wornall Rd.
Kansas City, MO 64114
816-333-4330

In addition to Dr. Brock Exline, Dr. Paul Diehl is experienced with rabbits. Both are very good, and one of them is on staff every day.

Ava Frick DVM - Union Mo 63084 (Animal Fitness Center)

She has a toll free number on her website, a contact e-mail address and physical driving directions noted. She is a member of the ARBA (used to breed/show English Lops) and is a HRS approved rabbit vet.

Dorothy Brinker -*

7431 Highway 100, Washington, MO 63090

636-239-3927

* a few notes to keep in mind:

- she neuters rabbits but prefers not to spay due to the "complicated nature of the surgery"

-Neuters generally run right at $30.00

-Her vet office is at her home, so phone calls should be courteous in case one of her kids happens to answer the phone

-As her office is at her home, for those who suffer great allergies, it should be known that she has an active, large hog farm surrounding her practice.

New name and address for Dr. Teresa Bradley Bays(phone # is still the same):

Belton Animal Clinic and Exotic Care Center
1308 N. Scott Ave.
Belton, Missouri 64012
816-331-3120

This clinic also offersan exotics-friendly urgent care center in the Kansas Citymetropolitan area (6-11pm, 7 days a week). My understanding is that the urgent care doctors are trained in rabbit care and that Dr. Teresa Bradley Bays (who was Smokey's vet when he had cancer) will come in if necessary for emergency procedures. She came in to do a bladder flush for someone on New Years Eve (not this past year, but the year before).

This is an expensive option, like any emergency vet would be.... but unlike most emergency options, they do know rabbits (and other exotics) there!

I hope I never need them, but am most grateful to know they are there!
