I think I'm losing Mister. He was fine last night and I was so crazy busy today, I didn't get the bunnies their pellets until almost six, which is when all the vets close.

He's normally food aggressive -- when I rattle the bag he goes nuts -- he didn't move at all. I thought he was dead when I looked at him. But he's hanging in there.

He was totally normal last night, normal poop and pee. He has a couple of poos stuck to him bum and he looks like he's dribble on himself today.

I've given him gas meds, ChlorPalm, Metacam and Nutri-Cal mixed with a little pellet slurry and I'm keeping him warm.

I have a lactated ringer kit here (for sub-q fluids), not sure if I should try that. I haven't done that before and not sure it's going to make much difference.

I want an x-ray, but the only open clinic wouldn't have a clue how to read it. My mobile vet is hiking in Hawaii. Awful timing. :(

I am praying for you guys.

I don't know if this is an option, but one time I took Chase to the ER vet and they didn't have a rabbit specialist there, but they knew of one they could call at home and since the x-rays were digital they emailed then to her. The vet agreed to look at them at home and told the ER vet what it was and what needed to be done until I could get Chase to her regular vet. Can you call the ER vet and see if they have a rabbit specialist they can contact if need be. Good luck.

I doubt that its a gas attack, he doesn't appear to be uncomfortable, and no gassy gut noises. Just limp.

I always thought he was probably a pretty old farm or show bunny and that's why he was being auctioned off. I made a point of not getting too attached to him, I was going to get him a physical, get him neutered and if he checked out okay I was going to foster him out.

He came to me with both eyes goopy, but they've been clearing up. I've been using Polysporin and just picked up stronger stuff from the vet.

He may have swallowed a cherry pit a few days ago, but I've been watching his poops, and no issues there at all.

I know Dill hid his cancer for months if not years, this may be the same sort of thing. :(

Thanks Amy, I'm trying to get ahold of my vet in Hawaii and see if he can read the x-rays taken at the open clinic.

I hope you can get ahold of him and he will read the x-rays. If not did he leave a rabbit savvy vet in charge while he was gone that could do it?

I'm so sorry Sas.

If you need help doing injection of the sub-q let me know. I can come over and help you, I've been giving enough injections that I'm very confident with it now.

Big hugs. I wouldn't give the ChlorPalm again, unless you suspect clostiridium (green mucous). Some sub-qs wouldn't be bad, but take away all food except hay.

Good luck~~~

Isn't that more of a 'poopy butt' protocol? ChlorPalm was a shotgun approach in case it was something related to his goopy eyes. I actually thought the vet had just prescribed ChlorPalm for him this past week, but it was for Radar's possible URI. Mister got the antibiotic eye salve.

Both my vets seem to prescribe antibiotics for just about everything, but not sure about ChlorPalm. When Pipp had poopy butt and when she had no poops she got antibiotics, forget the brand though. Not keen on them myself.

When I asked about what they could do for him in the ER, the answer was 'incubation, sub-q fluids and antibiotics.'

Mister got his Acidophilus three hours after the dose, and I got a bit of slurry and oral fluids in him.

He's still lethargic but no longer totally limp, so things are looking up. He fought to get out of the massage position and ran back to his 'burrito' blankets and bunkered down.

He did bloat up around his tummy area, so he has some gas going on. Whether that's a cause or effect, not sure, but I'm leaning towards cause. Marvin was a tad under the weather, makes me think it was the new type of kale or the hurriedly prepared carrot tops from last night.

Dill always looked like he was dying when he had gas, maybe its a mini-rex thing.

Mister has had his three doses of Simethicone, I might go for a fourth, but he's not wanting more massages, so we're in wait-and-see mode.

Thanks for the good wishes.

He's snapped out of it. :)

He moved into the 'discomfort' stage, shifting and pressing is tummy and moving his tail, so it was definitely gas. It wasn't going away so even though he had been fighting the massage, I tried again.

He was having the pain/stress shakes but I found that if I positioned him on his side -- his right I think -- he seemed more comfortable.

Eventually as I was continuing the massage, he began clicking his teeth so I thought he was in pain, figured I'd put him on the couch and get him moving, but he started digging and playing. :D I'm thinking they were either loud tooth purrs or he passed a bunch of gas on the way to the couch. :brown-bunny

He's eating some pellets and bugging Sherry and Marvin. :yahoo:
