I was reading about the different breeds. I think my rabbit is a hotot. Can anyone that has one tell me any info on them. I read that they are mean. Is that just the dwarf or any of them? She has nibbled on our finger but has not realy bite us yet. She is still small. Im not sure if she is dwarf or not. Please help me if you can.

Hi there,

How old is your bunny?

A lot of breeds have particular reputations, but that doesn't mean that all rabbits are like that. how does your bun act?

If you post a picture in the Rabbitry forum and the weight then you will get some good answers and suggestions for what breed she is.

Breeders have worked very hard over the past 20 years to breed for good dispositions in the rabbits formerly known as "jaws of the fancy".

I don't see too many mean Dwarf Hotots anymore (we've been breeding them forover 10years and I judge them at a number of shows).

i agree with pam. i haven't been in the breeding world in years, but know that the dwarf hotot breeders i worked with (including myself) set high standards to only breed good disposition.

but my advice is that like many smaller breeds, they are active. give them toys, lots of toys. my dwarf hotots always had balls to roll around their cages and such. dwarf hotots always seemed more active then netherland dwarfs to me. i can't stress enough to give them stimulation with toys and things to chew on.

She is very active. After I brought her home the second day she started playing. She has a couple of cat balls,a slinkey(not sure how to spell it)and she also has some stuffed animals and a toilet paper tube. What else can I give her?
