Matted fur under chin

Hi everyone,

The other day I noticed a small patch of matted fur under JJ's chinright where the scent glands are. I know it's a sensitivearea, so I was wondering...should I try to cut it off or just leave italone? Also, I suppose I could take him to my vet; is thatnecessary?

Will he sit still for you? I would tryto pull it out with my fingers/fingernails. If you want tocut it, use blunt tipped scissors and be careful.

You could also try rubbing the area with amineral oil-soaked q-tip, like you would for the genital scentglands.. That should help dissolve the scent gland gunk.

Hmm, I have some Jojoba oil, orange oil,olive oil, and baby oil. Would any of those work?

I'd try the baby oil.

I would use a little dishsoap rather than any oily products because it will make a mess on the fur.
