dont you think he is a mini lop? his face is sooo round and if im not mistaken thats a trade mark of a mini lop.

he is a marshall's/peter's rabbit and it says they only sell purebred rabbits. i know not to beilve them but anyway....

only thing that makes me wonder about him being a mini lop is that heis around 7 months old and isnt even two lbs. isnt that awfully smallfor any breed?

What a cutie! I love those spots.

I'd bet more for holland lop. They have rounder faces than mini lops, and they're smaller. That's still awfully small for a Holland though. There are breeds that small- Netherland Dwarfs, Polish. But Hollands are supposed to be around 4 lbs,I thought.

Marshalls/Peter's rabbits are usually spayed/neutered extremely young, before they are sold to pet stores. It's possible that he's smaller than normal because he didn't get the right hormones as a baby/teenager.

i've heard about them not getting as big.

but from what i have read i think its untrue. i posted it on etherbun and they gave me great long educated responses. and according to them it doesnt stun there growth at all.

peapoo's a holland lop,but she doesnt have the round head either... and i think mines ears are about that long... he looks like a holland to me:)

Looks like a Holland Lop to me! I've heard of many HL's being 2 lbs so not to worry!

Anyone could give a great long educated response - or so it would seem until you actually verify the information yourself.

Were there any links provided for verification?

I'm not trying to say that the information provided was not correct, I don't know. I just wanted to point out that at least on here,we back up our responses with links and direct quotes as much as possible - so you are able to verify our information for yourself. So don't take our word, or anyone elses for that matter, as the truth until you can find some verification from an outside source. :?

Personally, from this add and their website- sounds like a mill to me :?:X

Holland's are smaller than mini's?

Hmm, see i was confused by the name. I was under the assumption minis are smaller cuz they are called minis.:imstupid

Minis were accepted first - so at that time, they were the smallest lop. Holland came to the US shortly later.

To add to the confusion, our Holland is the Miniature Lop in other countries such as the UK. So, in other countries, the Mini is the smallest.

Aha! I see now. Since I'm working on getting my fourth, and LAST rabbit, which I wanted to be the smallest size lop, i will start looking for hollands instead of minis. Good gracious, imagine my surprise if I got a mini and it grew to be...no so miniature!

oh yeah, plenty of links to varify.

no doubt they are a mill. id never say they werent. and ill never say its a great place. from what i read im sure it is just awful.

just saying from what i read that the month old nuetering doesnt mess with growth

If he's only 2 lbs. at 7 months of age, he is a Holland.Appears to be a broken magpie. Not all Hollands have the round heads and short ears that we desire in a show rabbit.

Early castration does indeed lend males to a more feminine appearance, although it does not inhibit skeletal growth. (Studies in camelids indicated that there was actually an increase in long bone growth).

actually from what i read peters/marshall only has

hotot, mini lop, lion head, mini rex and angora bunnies.

The website was dated 2003, so could be possible that they've added Hollands or are calling the Hollands "Mini Lops". The Hotots are actually Dwarf Hotots and they listed that they raise Dwarf breeds. The angoras aren't dwarf breeds, so I'm assuming they mean Jersey Woolies?

There is no way to know for certain if the rabbits are actually purebred, especially if they don't come with papers.

Just read through the website -- I can't find anywhere that they claim the rabbits are actually"pure bred", so no telling what they may mix together or what they are calling it.

on top of the rabbit cage at the store there is a sign letter from peter's saying all of the are pure bred. of course i would swear they are telling the truth....
