Litter habits before and after neutering

Right now my non neutered 5 mos old male mini rex, Rémy, totally lost his litter training. Most of his business happens in the litter box but if something in the house changes, I move his cage an inch, clean his pen, new people, and sometimes just when he feels like it, he will leave poops and pee around. Does this change after neutering? I love having him roam around freely especially when we're home but I can't have him peeing and pooping on the couch and rug. It used to be totally fine and he would never go anywhere besides his litter box but now everything changed...
