I bought a large 5x8 straw mat for Kirby's play pen because he was previously chewing up the mats made of indigestible fiber. For a while he didn't like being on the straw mat at all. It might have smelled foreign to him. But lately he is licking the straw mat whenever he's on the ground. He'd sit under his wicker tent and lick lick lick all night. I can actually see his little bunny tongue (it's so cute!). But I'm not sure why. I have no reason to think there is something tastey there. Why's he licking the mat? :?

Miraculously he has not chewed up the straw mat and it's been here for about a month. He made 2 tiny little holes but has obviously not taken to tearing into it yet. Just licks. I am jealous of the mat. No bunny kisses for me :p

Dotty does the same thing! She has a big foam mat in our bedroom to give her traction, and one on the landing for when she runs up and down, and quite often she will flop down on them and lick the mats for ages! I've woken up to her licking the floor right next to me before lol...

Mouse and Chalk will do it sometimes- if they're going something naughty and we tell them to stop- they'll look up at us and then start licking the floor! As if to say 'no mummy and daddy, we weren't doing anything at all!'

No idea why though! Silly bunnies! :p
