Okay, so I saw someone(forgot who) had a lionhead named Hunny with a leash on?! Wtf. How?

I attempted to put a leash on Ife, and she ended up runningaround the room and growling and sqealing. It took like ten minutes toget it off. Then again, it was our first day together.

Bunnies can have leashes?

Also, is this a good idea for a rabbit toy?

To hang a string in the cage with four or five tiny bells on it, lowenough for it to each but high enough for it to walk under. Sounds morelike a cat toy, though

Rabbits can use leashes, but it takes somegetting used to. On the bell subject, my Timmy has a critterkabob in his cage that has a bell on the bottom. Sometimes Icatch him sitting up and using his nose to wiggle the bell around andmake noise. It's really cute.

Rabbits can be trained tohop on aleash, although some hate it. You have the harness kind, right?Never try to walk the rabbit with a collar/leash asthis can be very dangerous with risks of strangulation.I hada similar reaction when I tried to put a harness on my girl, Pebbles. Some like it, some don't.

You might want to wait until she's settled in and then maybe try again? She's still adjusting, so it might take some time :).

That's a great toy! I actually have one in Pebbles' pen at the moment.I got some string, put a cat bell on the top, and a paper towel roll atthe bottom. She bats at it like a cat, pulls at it, and loves runningunder the cardboard tube and making the bells jingle!

Rabbits certainly can be trained to walk on aleash. My rabbit learned to walk on a leash when he was only 3 monthsold, and he has always been very good with it. He is now one year old,and he is up to the point in his training where he will turn and go[Though he has not been trained to stop yet] through cues from theleash. Some rabbits cannot be trained up to this point, and generallythe rabbit hops along, and you follow.

Never use a necklace/collar sort of thing on a rabbit, as if you pull back it will choke the rabbit. Use a harness, like this:

Some rabbits hate the harness, and some rabbits [Like mine], are finewith it. You must take things slowly when introducing the harness toyour rabbit. Start by just letting them sniff it. Then lay it on theirback for a few minutes. Then slip it onto them, and hold them. If theyare alright with that, allow them to hop around a bit. Thentake it off, and praise them [Whether they were good or not]. Neverallow your rabbit to hop around with the leash dragging behind them onthe ground, as this will scare your rabbit.

If you have patience, you may be able to train your rabbit to walk on a harness, though some never learn.

Rach & Ollz.

BTW some rabbits are utterly terrified byharnesses, so do be careful. My baby girl Mocha panicked andalmost choked herself. Rabbits can easily injure themselveson harnesses if they are scared.

My rabbit loves walking him his harness andleash and I'd never had a problem. However, be careful and usesupervision. One evening my rabbit was running around and some of theslack from the leash wrapped around his leg. He screamed the mosthorrifying scream for nearly an entire minute while me and a friendtried to untangle him. He was unhurt, aside from being very scared andextremely unhappy. However, it didn't make him feel any different aboutwearing his harness and leash, he still loves it.

These are from when Harper was a baby, I don't seem to have any new pics of him with his harness on:

I got her a leash, and harness, and she loves torun around, but if I try and redirect her she freezes and refuses tomove. She is very very stubborn and such, and i don't know how to trainto her follow me. I can't use food or treats because unlike Ife shewon't eat while I'm around. Think she just has to trust me more first?

Btw, she doesn't mind it at all. In fact she acts like it's not there and like she is free.

Walking a rabbit is more like walking a cat thana dog. You can't usually train them to follow your lead, youhave to follow theirs. You can still try, and it's a verygood idea to train her to come when called. But for the mostpart just follow her and keep her out of trouble.

If I do that though she tries to go in bushes, and won't retreat if I pull her away. Plus if I run with her she suddenly stops.

I think she really dislikes me.

any idea how to train her to come when called?

Treats, while calling her name. Andtalk to her a lot so she knows what her name is. Just becareful with the treats as you don't want to upset herstomach. Don't give much at a time or very often.

I doubt she dislikes you. But you haven't had her for verylong, am I right? She's just getting to know you.And she's a baby bunny who wants to explore.

ive had 3 rabbits and all have walk or walkedconfortably than others. they were all very differnt to train. my fisrtrabbits Fluffy was very good and didnt really mind it at all. Dandy isok on it but shes tends to scare herslef and is very cursious of whatshe does while on it. Daisy used to ahte it and freak out all the timnebut i used her fear of the lead/rope (and me), her love of treats/ foodand her fitness and ability to turn her into a very accurate and wellbehaved jumper!

here are some pics of my bunnies going for walkes and being put through their paces! -

I've always wanted to try a leash. I ahd a leashfor my old buns but i can hardly remember what it was like (i was 5)infact i think one of them escaped from it?

Can anyone recommend where i could get a cheap one from the internet? Idon't want to waste any money seeing as i'm already skint!

petco or petsmart. If the bunny is tiny, get the ferret leash, if it's grown, get the rabbit leash. =)

I just measured my bunny, and got a small dog harness at the petstore. They are adjustable and so you can make it fit your rabbit's differnetbody type (compared to a dogs) Besides I don't like the bunny ones, Ithink they are ugly. There are alot more options if you get a small dogharness, colors, rhinestones, patterns... that sort of thing.

Sthvtsh, I though my bunny hated me too, but you just have to give hertime and get to know her. Just hang out with her and talk to her, sheis just going to have to get used to you. A tip for walking is to havea noise that means no. I use crutches and a cane, so when she was goingsomewhere I didn't want her to, I would kind of nudge her with mycrutch and make a noise like,"SSSHHSSHHH" She would run back towards meand learned what that noise ment. Now when we go outside, I make thatnoise and she runs right next to me and by my feet.
