Kismet is about two years old. She was born at GlaxoSmithKlein and was bred specifically for research. The day before her and three other rabbits were scheduled to be euthanized the vet tech program that I attend pulled them from the lab. Her and the others were apart of the program for the next five weeks. We were able to learn how to draw blood, give vaccines, cut nails, apply eye ointment and all the girls asked for in return was some love and lots of carrots!
Now that the semester is drawing to an end all the critters that we used for the program (we had guinea pigs, mice and rats too!) needed to find homes. Kismet has been home with me for about two weeks now and she has settled in so nicely. She has come a long way from the terrified rabbit #52 who hid in the back of her cage to the sweet girl who loves ear rubs and her veggies!
