Pipper

My bun Pipper is 3 months old. She's a Himalayan and is very small (about 1 pound). The breeder we got her from said to treat her like a Dachshund and not let her hop up on the couch - to pick her up and place her there if she looks like she's going to jump.
Well, I tried this for about a week, but she's just too fast for me. Is there actually a problem with her jumping up on couches? She made it seem like it was bad for their joints or something, and I can only assume it's because she's so tiny, as my Rex rabbit Weiser used to jump up on anything!
Was she just being too cautious or is there something to it? Thoughts?
