Mucousy poo - when poo has a lot of mucous around it, that means the bacteria was building up in the tummy and binding the poo so it couldn't be passed. Watch this closely as well, if this gets to be a pattern, your best bet is still force feeding more fiber so that the mucous doesn't have a chance to build up. And I'd increase the papaya tabs too to help break that down or feed some fresh pineapple (no canned). I have also given petromalt to help things along as well. THe combination seems to do the job without harm.

After Oreo (my boy bunny) had surgery, it took a couple of days to get him to eat after the anesthesia, and he had a big poo come out with the mucous, even though we were force feeding him. Then things started to right himself. We also had the antibiotics too which kept an infection from brewing in the belly.

I honestly don't think it's the food.I've been buying Oxbow products for the last 7 years.

But, still, I'dhave the teeth rechecked - the ones way in the back. 7 weeks after having Bindi's molars ground down, her molar spur issue occurred because one sprouted at the base of a tooth and grew sideways. And the eating pattern you're seeing might be that Jordi eats when the pain isn't too bad, then doesn't eat after it's irritated until it feels good enough to try again.

If you listen to Jordi's belly and you hear sounds that's good. That means the tummy is moving along. If it's really grumbly, you can also give some baby simethecone drops. I have done .25cc for a 5-6 pound bunny. That helps with gas.

I recommend to all rabbit owners, buying the House Rabbit Society medical guide Rabbit Health in the 21st Century. This is enormously helpful and has been a Godsend over the years. You can get this book anywhere from bn.com, amazon.com to bunnybytes.com and thebusybunny.com. I know normal people don't normally buy medical guides - but there are some good rabbit-oriented veterinarian guides you can get as well. They are a little graphic and can be a disconcerting, but I showed my local vet and he went and bought the same books to keep on hand in case we had a emergency and couldn't get up to our specialist which is a 45 min. drive away.

I guess I'm just a little more into the medical stuff with rabbits than a normal person. After a vet misdiagnosed my precious Ozzie a few years ago and he died because they didn't do a recheck on his severe diarrhea, which if they had, he would have gotten the right medicine and been cured....well, I research more so I can be more observant and proactive. (Note - do NOT go to Magrane in Mishawaka IN).

I hope Jordi starts getting back to normal. Keep a close eye. I'll keep you both in my prayers. My buns Bindi, Oreo and Siena wish you well!
