Life used to be interesting enough at our house. We have a dog (Lady), and three cats (Alexander the Great, Ditzy Mitzi, and Sam). But then...we got rabbits...and how our life has changed.
Now I get asked, "Does your grandbaby really like banana baby food this much?" when I go through the grocery line with the baby food I keep on hand I ALWAYS have to have bananas on hand - and I'm always eating at least 1/2 banana per day so it doesn't go to waist...uh..I mean waste!
Before - "poops" were to be tossed....now they are to be measured and celebrated!
I never had to count the baby carrots in the bag before to make sure I had enough to pass around (ok..so that is because I'm a breeder)...
I didn't have to vaccum and sweep every day...
My vet bill was much lower...
I never really worried about whether or not I had unflavored pedialyte on hand (and I never had to answer questions of "What's wrong with your grandbaby...see first statement above).
I'd never heard of craisins - let alone bought enough to feed an army!
And yet....now that we have rabbits...
I get a chance to feed a carrot or part of banana and watch a rabbit comehopping at the smell or sound of the bag rustling.
I have the "privilege" of being pounced on during the night by a rabbit as it starts its "Binky 500" run through the bedroom (my free-roaming rabbits only)...
I have the joy of watching them grow - and play - and learn...
....and unfortunately...the heartache of watching them go - whether it is to new homes (breeder) or to the Rainbow Bridge.
Art says since we've had rabbits - I laugh more...and I'm more loving.
Me? I just think the whole world changed....the day a rabbit entered my life.
