Man we had 30-40 mph winds yesterday with cold weather. This ended up happening to our new hutch. It held up right up until my mom put the tarps on the frame. It's a PVC frame with four cages. :/

I'm so sorry. I don't know if this would stabilize it enough, but I think I;d try fastening the PVC together real well with some kind of tape at the joints, then setting the ends into coffee cans or buckets & adding sand. Or if you can cap off the bottoms of the pipe, pour sand into the top to add weight.

They actually were no one was hurt. My two 6week olds were in the bottom left cage. Everyone was safe thank god and moved into our garage.

Orlena: thank you for the idea! Me and my dad went to Home Depot today he is going to insert large conduit inside the PVC pipe for stability and couple the pipes after. Hopefully this will hold till we can make more long term repairs

Oh wow! I'm so glad no one was hurt! I'm sorry you cages got messed up. Hopefully they'll be a semi-easy fix.

I like the cages though. Thats a really good idea with the PVC, simple but it does the job. I guess as long as you get it stable and wind resistant it will be really awesome! lol

So glad nobody was hurt!! I'm surprised the rubber glue that holds the pipes together came apart. I hope your temporary repairs hold up!

Two of the legs broke off at the joint. We built it almost 3 years ago and I guess the wind gusts stressed the PVC enough to cause them to snap. We got some 1" conduit and replaced the bottom portion of all the legs. Not very pretty but it works! :clapping:
