I just received a "starter" for Amish Friendship Bread. My neighbor gave it to me along with a sample of the finished product. It is delicious!

I never heard of it, but it's a new tradition in our house!

My neighbor added chocolate chips to hers and it was really good, but my daughter wants me to make ours without them.

I make that all the time, I always keep one of the starters in my freezer. Here is a super easy recipe. One package of oreo cookies, one 8 oz. block of cream cheese. Throw it all together in a food processer, blend until it forms a dough. Roll into little balls, chill, dip them in white chocolate. These are the best but you can use any sandwich cookie and any sort of chocolate. I tried Nutter Butter cookies, cream cheese and dipped them in semi sweet chocolate, they are good but everybody loved the oreos and white chocolate.

Hmmm... it must be a Northern thing. My neighbor also happens to be from Michigan!
