I thought I would look to see if there was a bunny forum and wow, there certainly is. We have a beautiful little mini lop boy called Jasper. We got him last December to be company for our big girl lop, who was recovering from a dental abcess and who had been very ill. We had taken her in as she had been abandoned by her original owners. She had been an outdoor bunny, but while she was ill came inside and became very tame. Little Jasper was to be her companion. We took her to be desexed, but very sadly she passed away under the anaesthetic.
So little Jasper who was brought into the house was very much loved by us all as we mourned the death of Dusty. Well, I am not quite sure how, but this little man is the tamest bunny I have ever come across. He is completely toilet trained. He goes to the fridge when he wants some greens. He jumps up on our laps when he wants a cuddle and goes to the back door when he wants a run outside, and comes back inside when he has had enough. He also comes when called!! He plays games in my vertical blinds, and plays with some little toys we give him. He licks us, not sure if it is for the salt, or he is just grooming us like he would another bunny.
I will put some pictures up soon. Because he is so cute. We are about to get a 10 week kitten, so I am planning on how I will introduce them, so if anybody has any experience with this I would love to hear.
Thank you fellow bunny lovers

:wave:Hi Nezza and welcome

I'm sorry to hear about your little girl.

Jasper sounds like quite a little character and he also sounds so cute!....

So sorry. :( Its very unusual to have a rabbit pass away under anesthetic, especially is she had been put under before for her dental surgery.

Jasper sounds like a pretty typical house bunny. :) He should get along fine with the kitten, although if he's bonded to you, you may have a jealous bunny on your hands. Pipp will bite a cat if she sees me petting one. (Or petting anything for that matter).

My other bunnies either ignore or try and play with the cats, although both sides are a little unsure how the other plays. ;)

Anyway, welcome to RO! Glad you found us.

sas :welcome1

:wave:hello from me and my rexes. jasper sounds a cute little bun! cant help you with cats - i've got two dogs that do what the bunnies tell them to;)

Let me welcome you to Rabbits Online, my name is Dave and I am a moderator on the forum. So if I can be of any help please let me know. This is a terrific website for rabbits and their slaves, not only is it very active but also friendly. I am so glad you’re here and I know you will enjoy it.

I am sorry you lost your bun and it sounds like you have a bun with lots of personality on your hands.

If your bunny is licking you, thats quite an honor. Lots of people call those bunny kisses.

I’ve listed some links I thought you might find interesting:

*For reference the Library section

*To brag or tell everyone about the antics of your bunny or just to talk about your day here is where to start a Bunny Blog, you can also look back at it later and remember when you had a life before your bunny.

*Now all the bunny’s like talk to each other when we mere slaves aren’t around in the Bunny Chat is the spot to be.

*Rabbits Online also has regional forums , this a good way to find a vet in your area that has experience with rabbits and to find out from other nearby of good sources of rabbit supplies.

The Let Your Hare Down section is for anything non-bunny related.

Here is a link to a website that will help you understand what your rabbit(s) are saying to you, Rabbitspeak.

Now every forum has rules and ours can be found with this link Rabbits Online Forum Rules. This gives guidelines on what is acceptable, what is not and how we hope everyone will treat each other.

Everyone on this forum loves to see pictures of each other’s bunnies. So if you would like to post a picture this link will help you do that, How to put photo's in your posts.

This the best site on the web for bunnies and I look forward to hearing stories and looking at pictures of your rabbit.

Well how time does fly! I seem to have forgotten the forum for a while! Jasper was introduced to Misty Moon, a very tiny 6 week Chincilla Persian cat. They became best friends as we all moved into a fairly small living space while I was having a new kitchen installed. So 5 adults, two babies (rabbit & cat) and brave budgie!
I have some great pictures, the cat in the rabbit box sleeping on hay and the rabbit on the sheep skin rug! and the rabbit trying to eat the cat food. They are good buddies, although the cat has to be in the mood to play with the rabbit. They are now both over 3 years old. The rabbit has two chairs he likes to sleep on. The funniest thing I think I have every seen is Jasper lying on "his" chair in front of our open fire place. The cat prefers a smooth cold surface. Jasper has chewed numerous things, wires, my couch, vertical blinds, cardboard, paper and anything else he can get his chompers into!!!! He makes a funny little sound when he is happy to see you, and runs around your feet, then nudges you for a pat. He has given our family hours of pleasure and comfort. :)
