Help w/ shipping rabbits & guinea pigs

I have received rabbits before from Frontier Airlines - I forget who the airline approved carriers were by. I know one source is KW Cages.

What I am wondering is....has anyone else ever shipped rabbits before? If so...

a. what airlines would you recommend?

b. Do you know if guinea pigs can be shipped?

I use Continental Quickpak if I ship rabbits. The animals are guaranteed to be

kept in a temperature controlled enviroment as long as the airline has posession

of them. They are moved from the cargo facilities in climate controlled vans and

are never too hot or too cold. I have never had a problem with a rabbit

that has been shipped by them and I have recieved rabbits many times this way.

I just called them for a quote because I am shipping rabbits to Kansas and the

price was $189 for up to 50lbs and $239 for up to 70lbs.

I have never used approved carriers. I put regular carriers in a dog crate.

Remember if you are shipping to leave the water crocks empty until you get

there and then fill them with unopened bottled water in front of the airline staff.

Also I would use pee pads for bedding because they like to check in the pans.

I don't see why they wouldn't take cavies because the temperature is controlled.

When you say they price by weight, that means the weight of the carriers too, right? So you would have to know how much your carriers weigh with bunnies inside before you could know the cost?

Yes it's the total weight of the carriers with the rabbits, food and water.
