My bunny was fine and playing around the living room (where he is allowed) as usual but when I checked on him after a few moments, his lip seemed to be bleeding. I attached a photo. I think he might have either ripped it on something or accidentally scratched himself. Please help! We are taking him to the vet tomorrow, but it’s late today and we don’t know if he is in a lot of pain or not. If someone could let us know what we could do for the time being, we would be super grateful.
Edit: We might have found the culprit — there was some spiky metal near my bedroom door and he usually tries to dig into the carpet there (to try to get in), but we don’t allow him, so he might have dug too deep into the carpet and hurt himself. We are being very watchful now and covering that part & looking for any other places where he might get hurt. Usually, we let him play around the house freely time to time because his cage might be restricting, but right now we have put him in his cage so we can find out how he got hurt and what we can do. His cage is very large (two-stories) so hopefully it doesn’t cause too much stress? We are very worried.
