Help! Demon pocessed Bunny!!!!

My Blitzen is acting crazy! He is sitting pulling hairs out of his sides and his chest! And spreaing it all around the cage.

I know females do this when they think they are pregnant but I havelooked up how to check your bunny and I am sure he is a boy. Is it dueto the fact that he hasn't been able to come out of the cage lately?

You're definitely sure it's a he and not a sheexperiencing a false pregnancy? Have you checked formites/fleas, etc.? Is it that he/she is shedding with thefall coming and the your noticing more fur that way? Have youtried grooming him in the case of shedding? DoesBlitzen have any bald spots?

It could be that he's angry, but I'd rule out everything else first. Any skin irritations?

You're definitely sure it's a he Actually, no,the girl at the pet store said, "It's I boy....I am pretty sure." Mysister and I (who don't know too much about rabbits) tried to sex him.I think he's a boy.

and not a she experiencing a false pregnancy? Well I have read someabout false pregnancies. But do they happen even if a bunny hasn't "hada chance"?

Have you checked for mites/fleas, etc.? No. I am not sure how to.Blitzen does go outside etc.... but is not around other animals orbunnies.

Is it that he/she is shedding with the fall coming and the yournoticing more fur that way? I saw Blitzen YANKING hair out of his/herbody. The skin was being pulled.

Does Blitzen have any bald spots? Well he/she seems to be having bare spots in the areas he's been pulling at.

I just tried sexing again, and I can't tell! I don't know what to do! :shock: I am so confused!

By the way Blitzen doesn't seem to be eating very much....He'll have hay
but not pellets. And he refused oats! (That doesn't often happen!)

As Carolyn mentioned, the behavior is similar tothat of a female rabbit nesting. Approximatley how old isyour rabbit? By 6 months, a male's testicles will havedropped, making it easier to determine the sex.

On occasion, a male may pull his fur our and nest like a doe (however,this is unusual). "Barbering" (fur chewing) or selfmutilation are not uncommon. It's hard to give you a concreteidea of what's going on without actually being able to see the rabbit.

Is there an experienced rabbit breeding in your area or are you able to take the rabbit to the vet for an evaluation?

They say that a girl's private is shaped like a taco and a boy's isshaped like a donut in the early stages of trying to figure out thegender of the rabbit.

I wouldn't trust the girl in the petstore being right. As Pamnock said,if there are any rabbit breeders in your area or a vet could help.

As to your questions, false pregnancies do happen without 'having hadthe chance'. As for signs or how to check your rabbit for fleas/mites,refer to the websites I posted for you above. If he's/she's shedding alot, you can help by grooming her/him.

As to the pulling of the fur, Pamnock response speaks to that the best that we can.
