Hardly pooping for days (I'm so worried, would appreciate others thoughts)

I would really really like some advice or even just hear other peoples thoughts on this. I'll try to summarise..

I got a rabbit almost a week ago. People that live nearby me were very keen for me to take her, and after seeing the conditions she was in (tiny cage, unhealthy surroundings, no hay) I decided to have her.

The first evening she was absolutely fine, except she was only eating pellets, no hay. She was obviously uncomfortable in her mouth, so the next day (Saturday) I took her to the vet. She was already booked in for a spay that week, so they moved that forward to Monday so they could look in her mouth properly and do a dental at the same time if needed.

The vet sent me home with zantac and critical care, upon my request in case she stopped eating. She did stop eating later that day, and we had 2 days of zantac and syringe feeding. Even with those, she pretty much stopped pooping 16 hours before the procedure.

Procedure went well, they found spurs on her back teeth, one really big one that had caused a sizeable ulcer on her tongue. Spay was straight forward.

I picked her up that evening and she still hadn't pooped.

We're now 3 days later and she's eating well (only hay now, she won't touch pellets), exercising, seems fine in herself, but she did only around 10 small poops yesterday, and only one in the past 12+ hours. She's on zantac, emeprid, and metacam. I also see her eat cecals every so often. She drinks well.

Why on earth is she still hardly pooping? She seems 100% fine in herself, and last night the vet said she had good belly sounds.

I'm a nervous wreck to be honest.

(I do wonder if it's because the vet has been kind of a nightmare, they wouldn't give me emeprid to take home the day of her surgery, just told me to be patient and see what happens, and so I had to bring her back to them the next day. They didn't have any liquid in stock, so they did an injection. They said it would be in the next day, which is wasn't, so I had to bring her in two days in a row for the emeprid shot, and so that was added stress, plus only the one dose per day. I took two injections home with me last night, and she's had her first one of the day this morning. My point being she hasn't had a constant amount of emeprid, and has had 3 vet trips in 3 days!)

Any thoughts? I'm going a bit mad with worry and being the only one I know who has any rabbit knowledge.

Is your new girl eating hay normally now? Roughly the same amount as her body size? Is she drinking water still, and slowly becoming active? Some poops still come?
If so, i wouldn't be that concerned as she'd be getting digestive input, as long as her stomach keeps on being soft, and she's not lethargic.
Sometimes it takes time for the digestive tract to get output going again, as after surgery and continuous vet trips, her balance would be thrown off.
If you're still worried, then give the vet a call and see what they say. It's also possible for you to find an even more savvy clinic to just call for advice.

As Catlyn said, sometimes after a rabbit has stopped eating for a time, it can take a bit for their digestive function to get back to normal. As long as she continues eating hay, drinking, and doesn't have a bloated belly, chances are she'll start pooping normally soon.

It's really good that she's eating hay, even better than if she was eating pellets. Good quality grass hay is the best thing for a rabbits digestive function. If the pooping doesn't get back to normal soon, things worsen, and/or you are concerned about anything seeming abnormal, she should be checked out and maybe get belly xrays. And if you have doubts about your current vet, it may be worthwhile to find a rabbit specialist for a second opinion.

Thank you both. I read your replies at the time but forgot to respond with all the stress going on. She had 2.5 days of emeprid (2x per day) and her gut seems to be working just fine now. She was always fine in herself, so I think I needed to be patient.

I'm in the process of trying to find a more rabbit savvy vet, but unfortunately there's not a lot around here.
