Jim, I remember you saying that your bunnies had a wabbitat with an expen attatched. Do you think the 37" x 19" wabbitat would be plausible for an eight pound rhinelander for about five hours a day, or is that too small? I'm bad at figuring these things. We always had tiny (polish and holland lop) bunnies before!

Or, I might just go with some sort of NIC thing. I was thinking of making a pen the way Jim described, or, I have another idea. With zip ties, would the walls kind of "swivel"? Because then I could just binder clip one corner, and kind of fold the rest up like an accordian? Just a shot in the dark. The reason I like exercise pens and dog crates is because they easily collapse for transport.

Just wanted to hijack your thread really quick to say glad to have you back! I was actually about to send you a pm to see where you've been bc I hadnt seen you around. Glad to hear youre going to be getting a bun soon!
Just noticed this! Aw, thanks. I was on vacation for almost three weeks, and I never bring my laptop on vacations, because I just know it will be too tempting! :D

Both the cage and pen I use are made by Midwest (Wabbitat). I think the picture of the cage gives a good idea with the comparison of the small and large buns (very close to Tootsie's size). And Tootsie is probably close to the size of the dog, too.....well maybe a bit smaller ;).
I just clipped the ends of the pen onto the ends of the cage and took the cage door off. IMO...I don't think the cage alone is big enough for Tootsie to spend too much time in it. It has her litter pan and hay rack in it, and that's about all she goes in there for. The cage is okay for short periods like cleaning or maybe transporting, but she really needs the extra room to be able to stretch out and get some excercise. If she sits real tall and pretty, her ears almost stick out of the top of the cage :D.

Thanks for the pictures :) I was thinking that cage might be a little on the small side, too. That rex really looks cramped in there... I mean, no room for much of anything. The one thing I do like about it is that it has a slide out tray, which is much cleaner for litter training! :D

Okay, so there's the mom of my little (hopefully) man. They're tall already without even jumping, so I'm thinking that a dog crate would be better, probably a 42" one. Hmmm.

This picture makes them look HUGE!
OMG that looks like honeys father !!!!

I know I am late but yea for 8lbs that would be small. I have and here are some pics of my boys in their cages. One is almost 4lbs the other is about 3and half.

This is my almost 4lb boy. He can run and jump. I would never put anything bigger in it.

Yeah, I agree. Great pictures, by the way! You should add them to the Photo Phile: Cages Only thread :) That cage is definitely too small for a Rhinelander, even if he'd only be in it for a little while.

I have more cage pics. I will go in searchof that thread.
