what is the best food for rabbits young and old please be specific and note if its young// older rabbit. brands and prices would be appreciated even a link to what it looks like would be amazing :anotherbun

I currently use oxbow bunny basics for young rabbits for my 4 month old babies :) they're on Timothy hay mixed with Alfalfa and get 1/4 a cup of veggies in the evenings . For older rabbits you might wanna use oxbow bunny basics for adult rabbits because they're pellets are Timothy based and free from sugary pellets.
I recommend oxbow although I head Burgess Excel is not too bad either :) here an Oxbow Young Rabbit pellet pack (5lbs) costs SGD $12.50 , the Adult ones costs SGD $18.50. For older rabbits they don't need alfalfa although I do give to the rabbits I babysit once as a treat. After 7 months of age they should be getting less pellets, switching to Timothy based pellets and hay, and getting vegetables everyday :D
How old are your rabbits anyway ? :)

Oh rabbits younger than 7 months of age should be free fed pellets and hay. Mine go crazy for vegetables though so I reduce the pellets and add slightly more vegetables instead :) it all depends on your rabbits really .

It also depends on the owner's ability to keep the veggies to very tiny amounts at this age. As Rabbit Nutrition puts it, "If you are unable to restrain yourself from giving into a rabbit's begging for more of a favored food it is best not to give any items that could cause problems in large amounts.", pg 121.

I just recently switched to Oxbow adult rabbit food. A 5lb bag costs me $8.99. Tho I don't know how much he likes it tho. He doesn't finish it off like he did with the Kaytee brand I fed him. =/

I use oxbow too :B wanted to just get the pellets the pet shop has but I figured it's been on the shelves for quite awhile so nah.
My rabbits love to eat until they get sick . Over eat on pellets I mean .

We're using Sherwood Forest Natural Rabbit Food. It's a small company out of Utah. They make their own pellets and our rabbits LOVE them! They smell so good when you open the box and they are SO green. Most pellets seem to be a brownish color, but these pellets are a beautiful rich green color that (I think) shows how fresh and full of nutrients they are. They are very well priced and shipping is a flat fee. A 12 lb box of young rabbit food is $15.79 and the adult food is just a dollar more. They offer a free 2 lb sample, too. Here's the store link:

and here's the link to their website that has a TON of info about how they make the pellets:

My buns eat Oxbow bunny T, 1/4c a day split into 2 feedings. I actually finally found a 1/8c measure (I like to be accurate).
Of course they get their hay + greens.

Well I just did the same. :)

My angora breeder fed pfaus and had given me a nice sample. The food is super green.

Harvey didn't like the Oxbow so I have him back on Kaytee. I do think I'll try a free sample of that Natural Rabbit food.

I feed my buns kaytee. I have to say I love the way it smells, reminds me of sunflower seeds. Once they are out of the baby phase I'll probably switch them to pfaus or natural rabbit food.

I hate everything Kaytee. Particularly after their recalls, and most recent one which has killed many baby birds.:(

The recalls are for Kaytee Exact baby bird formula.
Our free Sherwood forest sample has arrived! It smells yummy. We will see how Elliot feels about it today.:sunshine:
