Hi everyone,
My lovely mini lop bunny coco has got some awful looking scabs on her ears. I first noticed them on the top of her ears when I was brushing her; but when I’ve looked inside her ears left side almost looks like the sore is the whole way through?! She scratches her ears occasionally but I’ve not noticed her doing it loads...
She had her spay just over a week ago, and she’s on her own with no other pets in the house. Could it be mites or something else? She’s got a wound check up on Monday at the vets but not sure whether to ring before for more advice?
Thank you all

It doesn't look like mites to me. The first photo looks more like a puncture wound. Maybe a needle puncture from when she got her spay? Vet's will put IV catheters in rabbits ears, though in the back of the ear lower down and usually it will be shaved where it's been placed. Also the needle doesn't go all the way through the ear. But this is all I can think that might cause a wound like that in the ear, unless she somehow hooked a nail scratching and caused it, or somehow punctured it on something in your home, which could be a possibility.

As long as it's not infected or causing problems in any way, I would just ask the vet about it at her appointment next week. If it does look infected or is causing problems for your rabbit, I would suggest phoning your vet to consult with them on whether she needs to be brought in sooner.

Thank you so much! She doesn’t seem bothered by it and it doesn’t look infected as such just a bit red. I’ll keep an eye on it and ask at the vets next week.
