    Hi,
Just want to make sure that I am correct with this info as I am assisting a friend whose rabbit most likely has EC. We have Safeguard liquid for goats (fenbendazole 10% 100mg /ml) and I want to be sure about the standard dosage . Am I correct that it is 20 mg /kg for approx. 28 days?
    Thanks :)

    Hello,

New to forums and rabbit owning, and my poor Pumpkin has been diagnosed with EC after only a month of having him, he's recovering slowly, and I really hope he will be okay.

If any fellow pet owners could help a hypochondriac out, and share their experiences of human infection, the vet said the possibility is small, I was wondering if anyone had been effected by EC and if so what were the symptoms/ how was it treated?

    Many thanks,
    Anna

Hi our bunny Minky had EC diagnosed July 2016. We nursed her through it, it’s upsetting but possible. She recovered partially, had a permanent head tilt but she recovered enough to eat, drink and lollop about.
You should be on panacur which contains fenbendazole. Depending on the rabbits weight it’s 2 discs per 3kg rabbit weight. Take once a day for at least 28 days. You can repeat for upto 3 months.
    Do not give metacam alongside.
The recovery is slow. Invest in some puppy pads, if your rabbit pees and cannot move away the puppy pads draw the pee away and keep your rabbit comfortable.
You will need to give your rabbit water by syringe as well as critical care. Do this every few hours.
Good luck. It’s possible to nurse the rabbit better, but it’s slow. Minky got better slowly and after 3months was as better as she ever would be.
Keep the rabbit surrounded by rolled up towels / pillows as when it rolls it can injure itself.
