hey there! i'm new on RO and well, after looking at the many blogs, i decided to show off my cutie pie as well! :p i was going to start this little blog yesterday but ended up not.. therefore, this entry will be a loooong one :D

first and foremost meet Donut. he's a 5 months and 2 weeks (as of tomorrow) old netherland dwarf! i got him when he was only 7 weeks old :D

i went to visit 2 pet shops- PetStock and Pet Magic. :) i bought a few items from pet stock- a new rabbit brush, rollin' the hay thingy and this bendable colorful wood sticks (i don't know what they're called). i reckon that donut likes them :D however he still hasn't figured out how to get the hay out of the Rollin' the Hay manager thing.

and onto the pictures!

yesterday evening, i went to grab the pellet bag (it's a ziplock bag), and found a maggot stringing just below the ziplock inside the bag! thank god i saw these so i threw them away without intentionally giving any to donut! :) so during the night, donut only had hay and a tiny bit of extra veggies, and of course unlimited water.
this morning, went to the rabbit vet clinic/shop (which is really close-by to my house). i saw the oxbow pellets! for both adult and young rabbits- being in australia (especially here in perth), it's really hard to come across oxbow products. i decided to buy the adult oxbow pellets as it would cost a lot of money buy the pellets for the growing rabbits, and it would mean that i would have to keep changing the type and brand of pellets.
i had forgotten that you have to gradually change the brand and type of pellets over a few weeks, and quickly got my mum to drive and find the brandless pellets i had used before. now, i have TWO big bags of pellets- but nevermind that, cause i already had come up with a plan! :p my "plan" is to give donut a handful of the brandless pellets and a little bit of the oxbow pellets everyday until he is 7-8months old. when he is around that age, i could then actually start gradually changing to oxbow pellets- and the leftover brandless pellets could just be given to a friend. :)i hope this would work out well and hope that donut won't have any mushy or soft poop! :D

anywayyyysss... a few pictures of update. :)

just a little question: is it normal for me to hear donut's stomach "noises" when he is drinking water? i've been hearing this for awhile now (for a few weeks already). he seems fine though- poop is the same as usual (the size is inconsistent as usual. e.g could have many round pellet-poops and a few smaller poops here and there. however this has been happening.. since i got him). he eats fine (except for last night the maggot-pellet thing), drinks a lot and gets his exercise in the morning and at night for awhile. should i be concerned because i read before that stomach noises could mean gas.. but this has been happening for awhile now. :?

@hartleybun: yes he is indeed sweet, but only when he's in his cage/xpen. when he's out exercising he can become so rough

Hi your Donut is very cute. I just love his colourung.

I have 2 Bunnies that make a lot of gruggly noise when they are drinking water. Like you at first I was a little worried but because they do it all the time I figured it's just their tummies. I actually know when Wilbur is drinking water as I can hear his tummy. It's very cute.

I look forward to seeing more pictures of Donut.

Susan

:)

Love your rabbit :D

Erm, yeah I think it is normal for buns to make sounds when drinking. They are probably drinking really quick and you can hear it going through their digestive system :)

Mine do it - I wouldnt worry about it :D

today i started my little "plan" on encouraging donut to accept timothy-based pellets so that when i actually gradually switch to them, it will be smooth and won't take a really long time. :) at first, he would eat all the normal pellets and leave the oxbow ones out. i even tried giving them to him, and he would push my hand away, orr.. grab the pellet and throw it somewhere else. all that's left in his food bowl were the oxbow pellets- of course he had unlimited hay and water. so i didn't re fill his bowl, to show him how persistent i am. and it worked! donut is slowly accepting them. at first he took little bites. now he's slowly eating the whole pellet without spitting it out or throwing it away!:bunnydance:

on to the pictures!

i found that shirt and thought "what if donut can fit in it?!" so i tried it on donut... and took a few pictures. i took it out quickly though since it's such a hot day today.

"i dissapprove of this shirt!"

@SOOOSKA & nicole: thanks for reassuring me on that!

thanks! he's getting brown-ish areas at his tummy! :D i would take a picture but donut always struggles!

just wondering, do you think donut is a purebred netherland dwarf?

By the way he looks he is a pure breed and he is soo cute i love how cute he is any way he is the most adorable thing in the shirt.
messes:bunnydance:

awww yeahh. donut looks adorable with that shirt on! however it's too big hahah.
oh he really is purebreed?? i got him from a petshop and the employee there said it was a purebreed.. but just wanted to confirm.. afterall donut is from a petshop- and they aren't all that reliable. :)

He looks like such a lover!!

haha been pretty lazy to update this bunny blog. no pictures for this post. :)

donut has been having soft poops! i hope that he gets better soon! i stopped using superpet Rollin' the Hay product, and poured all the hay back into the litterbox tray thing like i used to do. donut has little room to move to get the hay since the product is in the cage. i think i'll stick with this until i move to the new house. my plan, when moving to the new house, is put donut's cage in my room (hopefully it'll be a big room), and let him free roam in the room. i'll leave the door open (so that there is light, so i don't have to always leave the light on) and use the xpen bars to block donut from leaving the room. :) this way, donut would get more comfortable with me! :D also, i'll put the SuperPet Rollin' the Hay product on the stand and put hay in it- he would have much more room than before to move around to get the hay out! :D

pictures will be posted tomorrow night- 17/12/09. it's my birthday tomorrow as well! haha!

cheers

happy B-day:wiggle!!!!

I'm sorry that Donut is having soft poo.I think that Donut will really enjoy having more room!
