This is just a curiosity question.
Hypothetically lets say I have a domestic doe that recently gave birth. Let’s also say, again hypothetically, that the local feral cat killed the momma rabbit of a cotton tail litter nearby, which by complete accident happens to have been born on exactly the same day as my doe’s kits.
let us also say that my doe gave birth to four kits and the cotton tail also gave birth to four babies.
can a domestic rabbit suckle a little of cottontails? I know that genetically they are completely different, and I am assuming their gut bacteria is different, but they are similar.
also note. I want to stress this is completely about curiosity. Not only is my Dortmund a male but he is also fixed and all the rabbit I want or need.
