My rabbits shed more than they used to after Ichanged their diet from a mix of cheap no brand pelletswithbranded pellets to a branded pellet only diet. I was not sure if it wasdue to the diet or because they were getting older(they are 2 years oldnow)I noticed one of the ingredients in the pellet mix issalt. I heard that salt can cause more shedding in pets, is ittrue?I'm using Hagen and Britter bunny pellets now. Not thebest but there arent many brands available where I am now. I try tofeed more hay /veges and less pellets.

I've never heard of salt causing problems withfur. I have seen rabbits who shed more when they are gettinga lot of protein. Maybe thisbrand has more proteinthan the old one? Since you don't have many pellet options, you could reduce the current pellets to just a few tablespoons a day,free-feed grass hay (not alfalfa), and feed lots of green leafy veggies.
