I've been wondering about this for a while now, so I thought I'd ask the experts. So my bun Dante has been getting a lot calmer ever since I started teaching him tricks, he jumps on me when I sit down, he stands up to my leg etc. And still there are times when he grunts or lunges at me.

So I was wondering, does he only like me/come up to me because I give him treats, or is this just normal behaviour and he simply just likes me for who I am?

When are the times he grunts and/or lunges at you? Is he in his cage?

Mostly when I put him in the smaller cage (I am trying to bond him with another bun so I am switching up their places), and when I feed him next to the other bun (I am keeping distance between them), other than that I rarely see him do it

I think for the most part every pet on the face of the planet has deep feelings for the person who feeds them. The question I guess is, how does he act when you aren't feeding him?

I guess even when I don't give him treats or feed him, he still comes up to me, it just feels like he's just asking for treats and doesn't necessarily want my company when he comes up to me and stands up to my legs, but I don't know, is any bunny is like this?

The lunging at you when he is in his cage sounds like cage aggression. Just leave him be when he is in his cage, lure him out with treats or just leave the door open and wait for him to come out when you need to switch or clean the cage.

My bunnies do this always. My food crazy Odin always run up to people and beg for treats. But if I put my face near his he will always give a few kisses. So not a cuddly bun, just running around and being a happy bunny, standing on his hind legs being curious and begging for treats.

I think your bunny react to the new smell of the new bunny, or if you had the problem before. It’s something you can train away with positive reinforcements.

Some bunnies will feel corned and don’t like others getting close to their food. Don’t really understand your bunnies trigger points and the whole situation. But you can defiantly train away that behavior, at least make it so he won’t attack.

But he have a bond with you, sometimes it takes longer to build a better bond. Took a year for my bunny Toste to give me a kiss and now he only lung towards me if I startled/ accidentally touch his triggers point without warning him instead of putting his teeth in my hand :)
