Digging !!!

My rabbits Miko and Mila always dig in their litter at unearthly hours of the morning/late night when I am trying to sleep! Their cage is in my room with me because it fits no where else and i like them near to me but what is the digging about and is there a way I can stop it?! I am going insane.... ssd:

You could look into getting them a litter box with a grate, covering the litter? I know how you feel, my Clementine is a litter box digger and while the noise doesn't bother me as much, she makes a real mess of the cage!
