We've had an opal mini rex buck for some time that was rescued from a BY breeder. He was housed outside in a pen and was exposed to quite a bit of rain. So, as you can imagine, his coat was in horrible condition when we got him. However, we've had him for quite a few years now, and despite all kinds of supplements, his coat has never truely regained it's true plush rex texture. It's certainly better than when we first saw him, but now it's thin and and very fine. His skin is in good condition, not dry or flaky and he hasn't had any hair loss. It's just no where near as thick or healthy as it should be.

Does anyone have a conditioning mix that they've been met with good success?

We've tried sunflower seeds, steam rolled oats, steam rolled barley, and rice bran. Everything we've used makes his coat very soft, but it still remains very thin and fine. We've never had any trouble boosting coat condition with our rabbits, but then again, none of our other rabbits have had rain damage to their coats.

He's such a gorgeous buck (especiallycoming from a BY breeder), he's got a good strongwide head, short ears, and very compact full body.He would be spectacular on the show table, butI just can't showhim because of his coat :(
