My rabbitseeemstohave a cold he sneezes a lot and hasmucusthatis a milky white. At times his nostrilsclose because the mucus becomes sticky and forms a scab. So I have beencleaning it daily but it has been going on for 2 months. Anysuggestions??
Mylittle girl bun called Fern has been sneezing for several months now,my vet tried putting her on antibiotics (Baytril, assuming it waspasturella), she was on it for about 2 months in total, she got a bitbetter, then a bit worse and then it didn't seem to be doing much atall so I took her off it.
Next we assumed it was an allergy or stress (especially cos we movedhouse in the middle of treatment when she got slightly worse) soremoved anything from the flat that I thought would affect her - nochange.
Took her too a specialist exotic vet - he did a culture from up hernose, found it was strep so now she is on the right antibiotic, and hasbeen for 3 weeks. At the start there was a dramatic improvement, butshe is still sneezing - how long should a bunny be on antibiotics? andwill we ever get rid of it?
Fern has always had problems with her teeth growing upwards into hernasal passage and eye sacs so they vet things this may have somethingto do with it and wants to remove some of her teeth. This REALLYbothers me - is it safe? Has anyone had to do this to their bunny? I amscared that she'll be unhappy. Sometimes she has to have her frontteeth clipped down (they grow out of line) and she's grumpy for daysafterwards cos she can't chew stuff that she likes to chew - likecardboard and shredding the paper in her cage. I just can't bringmyself to do anything that will make her sad.
What do you all think?
What were you thinking? You aren't supposedto type when she wants attention! LOL!Bo - you're right, Fern is precious - and tugging at my trouser leg asI type!
