Hi all,

My new adopted rabbit, Munchkin has a lump of something (like dust) inhis eye. How the heck can I get it out without stressing him too much?
I have tried cotton wool and got a bit out, but he closes his eye tight and I can't get it.

Help! :?

I use saline solution and gauze pads.

Squirt the saline over the eye and let it run down.
I hold the gauze pad under the eye to keep from making too much of a messy bun.

Is this actually in the eye itself or in thecorner - like crusty sleep? If it's actually in the eye I wouldn'trecommend touching it. I have never dealt with anything like thisbefore but I would assume that you would need to flush it out with somekind of liquid - wait for some advice from someone who has done thisbefore though as I am only guessing.

Its in the actual eye itself - keeps going right in the centre so it must be irritating for the wee mite.

Saline solution? I will get some tomorrow and try flushing it out.

Thanks for your help guys. This forum is fantastic. :D

If it doesn't flush out easily, I would suggest a vet visit....
You don't want to damage the eye by trying too hard to remove it.
