i was thinking that beans are really high in protein and organic beans are readily available and cheap. can a percentage of the diet include say kidney or black turtle beans in small amounts to boost protein levels of organic pelleted alfalfa?

i dont want to use soy. if beans are not an option what other alternatives could there be?

i appreciate any input!

Rabbit Production lists the following sources of protein that are added to pelleted feeds: soybean meal, cottonseed meal, meat meal, linseed meal, sunflower meal, alfalfa meal.

Sunflower seeds would be an easy way to add protein.

Also listed are: kidney and pinto beans.

Milk pellets such as Calf Manna are very high in protein.

However, too much protein is generally more of an issue than the lack of protein in the rabbit's diet, so use supplements sparingly.

thanks! organic sunflower seed are easy to find. i was going to research the protein percentage of the supplement i choose and do the math to figure out the ratio to the organic pelleted food i chose.
