Hi yall,

I was wondering what would be the prefured foood to give to my baba mini rexs?

So far i have been giving them 80% pellets/10% hay/10% fresh greens.

One or both of them have had a little diareahha.

Thanks

E.

how old?

Under 6 mos they should get unlimited alfalfa hay, unlimited alfalfapellets and slowly you can add a bit of fresh greens (like one leaf orstem of one kind for 3 days, gradually adding new ones thenincreasing the amount).... and unlimited water.

You can use timothy hay as well, instead of the alfalfa, but they needlots of protein as they grow and they usually like alfalfa a lot :)

i will try that. I was wondering if it would be bad to slowly ease them onto more and more fresh greens?

No, my avatar is Brenda, shes a full grown female.

these are my babs....

Ohhh so cute! I love mini-rex as most everyone here knows (cause of my little Bo Ber Bunny :) )

Be really slow with the greens. I didn't introduce them untilBo was 5 mos. I figure they are small and need more of theprotein and things from the other food they don't get as much of in thefresh stuff.

If they still have soft poos right now, give them some rolled oats .... maybe 1/2 tsp and see if that doesn't help.

Bo got that soft, runny poo stuff for a while one time and that's what got rid of it :)

They look a tiny bit older, but that's just me seeing photos. Most babies need to be with mom until 8 weeks I think.

Anyhow, they are precious and I am jealous! :p

Oh yes. Bunnies can die in a short amount of time (hours) from diarrhea.

You really need to get that stopped. Is it soft or is it watery?

i think mine started on greens when they wereabout 3.5 months old.. but just a bit at a time until they're used toit.. and of course, unlimited hay :) that will probably help get rid ofthe runnies as well..

and yes, diarrhea in bunnies can be very very bad because it can get serious so quick and can be fatal :(

Spiced, arent' they cute? hehehe.....

I love the rex breeds so much. I saw a little black one andheld him on Friday. I wanted to bring him home so bad!

I'd give the babies some oats now if they have the poos, even softones. If they have more loose ones, I'd give them some moreoats in a couple of hours.

its not watery its just not the normal pelety like of poop.

You need to keep an eye on it, but it's common and usually goes away.If they are otherwise healthy, trythe oats. Actually, mymiracle drug is raspberry or blackberry leaves in summer. Just one aday does the trick for my herd.

Good luck!

Great! I would watch them and you can give themmore oats if you need to. They will probably love them! Bodoes! They're his favorite! I know someone who has a youngrabbit that has chronic soft poos and I told her to do that. She gives the bunny a tsp everyday and it has really helped!

Spiced, I love your goobers too! :pand of course mine! but I call him a turd :)

They are sweeties....

I was told to wait until they are 12 weeks old and then introduce, slpwly, some veggies...

But none the less you have VERY cute bunnies!
