I was just wondering if anyone makes there own rabbit chow? I like cooking and it's something I've never tried. Anyone on here do it? Or is it a bad idea?

I doubt it would be possible to make up your own rabbit pellets - you need all of the correct vitamins and I'm not sure how you'd compress the hay and then make the pellet shape. Buying Oxbow (or something else) would be easier and you wouldn't have to worry if the rabbits were getting the correct amount of vitamins. Besides, rabbits only need 1/4th cup to 1/8th cup of pellets daily, so feeding Oxbow or something would be more worth it and easier, lol!

this is a good topic--because people love feeding bunnies,,,-most-unfortunate for the bunny,//,their diet must be 70% ie.timothy/orchard grasses-(non-digestible fiber),--this given--most people feed a fiber but it is digestible fiber/bad news for the bunnys gi-tract.,,for many reasons,,,the gitract will slow down,,get sluggish,,poops lessen,,teeth -(which are constantly growing-)-grow longer and impair chewing by becoming-misaligned/offset,etc.--now the stage has been set for theneed of an exotic- specialist.//.yes,back to your question,..i have heard of people spending countless dollars on concockions,of vegy,fruit,-things that should be-fed- only as a treat--being fed as a main course meal--you can drag a horse to water,,but you cannot make him drink.!!.-these are not complicated animals,,but we set the stage for disaster,,...given a -70%-grass diet.,,and a small amount of quality/lowfat-pellets,,with a treat of safe list, fruits and vegy,s,,,will save lives.//.i offer fruit tree branches/twigs to aid chewing and the gitract here is a link to mystery of rabbit poop http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/poop.html -lots of info....sincerely james waller:wave::rose::inlove::pinkelepht::pinkbouce::bunnydance::biggrin2::p
