We have been keeping some of our rabbits inside, but I find myself changing the pine shavings in the drop pan every two days. Often most of the shavings are fine, but the smell is over whelming. Any suggestions of what I could use in the drop pans to curb the ammonia smell?

Try using a wood pellet litter such as WoodyPet, ABM, or Guardian Horse Bedding. They're much more absorbent than shavings, and really good at killing pee smell. Also, vinegar will help get rid of lingering smells in the drop pans.

I have 36 rabbits inside my house (rescue). I only have to change my
litter once a week. I use wood shavings (pine) that is sold as "horse
bedding"...$5 for 9+ cubic feet. Each litter pan has about 2 to 3 inches
of this, depending upon the size of the rabbit, and I then sprinkle Woody
Pet on top of it. Usually, I don't smell the boxes until the 6th day...just when
the boxes are due to be changed. Each of my cages have litter boxes.
This is more efficient than using the pull-out drop-pan as you can't put
that much litter into them...so, they smell.

I spray something called "Odo-Ban".Home Depot sells it. It is a cancentrate that you dilute.I put it on thefloor in the rabbitry and behind the cagesif the rabbits happen to"aim"really far!!! It is non toxic and smells like soap. Also, I started using Woody Pet and it is GREAT!!! Should have started sooner!!!
