I'm at work, my mom called me and told me that my stepdad, stepped on Molly's paw today. Molly is a Neitherland dwarf, for those who don't know. Her bones in front paws are smaller then needles.

My mom took her to our vet, he took xrays. In a few minutes when the sedation kicks in they will take better xrays, to see if its compeltely shattered or not. THen they will do surgery, or will call in a specialist.

This sucks guys, please pray for Molz.

Aww...I'll be praying for your girl...that's horrible...I hope to hear good news about her soon...:(

Aw bless you both. I had a nethie that broke his front paw a couple of years ago and got about fine with it broken, but cleaning that side was hard you might have to help there.

I'll be thinking of you both. I hope it's as good as it can be.

oh poor baby :(

Thanks guys,

My girl just called, vet says it's broken in 3 places. She is going to pick her up. Our vet suggested 5 orthopedic vets around LA. As soon as she gets back we'll start making apts. for her surgery. That's it so far.

Thanks for all the kind words,

There was some kind of miscommunication yesterday at the vet, when they released Molly without a cast. They thought we were going straight to a specialist. So as soon as I got home we had to go back and put on a cast for Molly because she was folding her paw under her, cutting off circulation, so she could lose it.

She made it through the night. She was eating and drinking. Thank god. Today at the crack of dawn, we rushed her to a specialist on Wilshire Blvd. Pretty respectable place, but I'm sure it's going to cost us. Anyways, the guy will look at her and determine how to do the surgery, which will happen (if with this guy) on Thursday.

AngelnSnuffy,
Yes I told him to be careful many times, everyone in fact. Thousands of times. Molly got into a habit of darting under feet in the last feet months. It was kinda her fault, but yes he should have been more careful. When I walk around the buns I look at every step I make. Ugh!!! I'm really upset, but I'm more worried than anything. I want her to get better, then I can be mad.

The specialist that had Molly for the day, because he was so busy now told us that the surgery is too complex and he will not do it. We are looking for an orthopedic surgeon now again. If anyone in LA area or SoCal know anyone plz let me know.

Oh, I wish I knew someone...lemme check around and see...have you tried looking in the section that has vets by location? Maybe call around to the various vets, and ask them if they know someone?

Edited to add: Try calling the vets listed on here:

The risks may outweigh the benefits in this case. Her little foot has already begun to heal and would have to be re-broken to fix it. It very may may heal fine on its own, although pain in the limb may be long term. You may want to discuss pain managementwith the vet.

Pam

maherwoman,
Thank you, I was making the calls yesterday.

pam,
It is such a bad break that it will not heal on its own anywhere close to correctly. Her large bone is snapped completely , and her smaller bone is also snapped completely in two places with a little peace of maybe 3/4 of a cm in between. I doubt re braking the bone after 3 days will be a problem, (In humans it takes about a month just for cartilage to grow and another 2 to harden) I don't know in bunnys though.

Anyways, mom and girlfriend are with Molly at another specialist right now. I'm expecting a call any second. I hope he is comfortable to do the job.

My mom just called and said that a vet in Anaheim will do it. He said he has done this before. I'm not exactly sure how, but it will involve pin and an apparatus kinda deal and he will do it today, even thought his surgery day is tomorrow.
