My 2 week old babies are scratching their ears, not constantly, but every so often I see them doing it. I have notnoticed their mom scratching, but my other male bunny (in a seperatecage) I just noticed today has a couple little red scabby bumps on hisears, I haven't however noticed him scratching his ears. Does thissound like ear mites to you guys? If so, what do I use to treat them? Iread on here that Ivermectin is effective, but should I use that on thebabies? Thanks so much for your help.

caution shouldALWAYS be used when treating a rabbitfor anything that has neverbeen introduced before , We have seen thehorrors of a bad reaction in a Dutch toIvermectin , on this board already this year , Mysuggestion is a little mineral oil inthe ear , it will smother anyand all mites , as always consult youVet before administering anything new.

I don't know what the others might say, butsomeone here suggested I try olive oil for Don Cheetos ears. It stoppedthe scratching immediately.

Also, babies "practice" scratching.:)Iwatched mine at that age and it was adorable. At that age be careful ofputting something too harsh in there. Olive oil is pretty harmless, butIvermectin is probably too strong for babies.

Mineral oil , Olive oil no difference, they are both a smotheringtype oil , ( heavy as apposed to a lightoil like Veggi oil ) either onewill work equally .

Ya I have used it on my nursing doe, shewas really red and irritated, so I put it on after every feeding andthe redness and irritation went away after a day or two.
