Bunny to take over Mikeys old home, Options?

My wife is still overseas so we will talk about it when I get back. I think my wife is a bit reluctant in getting a bunny again but I am more for it. either way, we will probably take a little break and do more travelling etc. I will be on here when we get another bunny. I have kept my eyes open...

Bunny to take over Mikeys old home, Options?

Pipp wrote: Western Australia I will look into this shelter thing. I 100% agree. If I can help out a poor animal that needs a home of course its better then buying one from a vet/pet shop that will be bought by [hopefully] a loving owner anyways. If I adopt bunnies from a Pet Rescue and soon...

Bunny to take over Mikeys old home, Options?

Hi all, I'm at home just thinking that Mikey was a pretty nice bunny to have around. He passed away a few days ago and I am thinking when my wife comes back from overseas we may get another rabbit. Where as Mikey can never be actually be replaced as he was special and one of a kind yet perhaps...

    R.I.P Mikey

Ah yes, thank you. Mikey did do binkys only a day or two before he passed. He was not in much pain. If he was, it was only in his last moments. He was happy and running 12 hours before passing.

Mikey has then a turn for the worse (RIP)

Dear angieluv, I see your points. The bunny did have fluids injected by the vet. And when I got him home, he swallowed by himself medicine. He didn't like the food that morning through the syringe so I didn't force this much. But at the same time in the morning he did swallow the medicine...

    R.I.P Mikey

Funny thing is I didn't really care much for a rabbit when we first bought it. My wife wanted one. As time grew, especially after he got unwell the first time, he grew on me. Yesterday he was hopping around the living room happily trying to climb over the barrier he shouldnt be. This morning he...

    R.I.P Mikey

My wife named him after Michelangelo, Mikey was a deep thinker and cute pet. Mikey died 5th February 2010 after fighting a gut problem for a few months. He is burried at my parents property next to the family dog, Rex. Rest In Peace... Mikey

Mikey has then a turn for the worse (RIP)

Thanks Pipp. I will try to post some photos. At this stage, we will most likely not be getting any more pets for a while. We like to travel and we can use this tragedy to maybe travel a bit and not need to worry about pets at home. Perhaps in the future we can get another bunny.

Mikey has then a turn for the worse (RIP)

Thanks for all the replies. I first didnt really want a rabbit, he was for my wife. But over the last year the little guy started to grow on me that I mainly looked after him, gave him toys (which he didnt like :(), fed him and tried to play with him. Its sad. I called my wife who is overseas...

Mikey has then a turn for the worse (RIP)

This morning I noticed Mikey not himself. He could hardly stand. I feared the worse and called the vet. They advised I feed him metacam, some left over medicine I have had last time this happened. Also they told me to feed him some of the grinded down food they gave me last time. He didnt like...

Is Mikie unhappy or is it just him?

Good advise Pipp. I do leave the cage open as a in-and-out style place for him. When I am in the living room, he has free roam of the area. So he can go into his cage whenever he wants. Only if no one is in the room or we are out does he get locked in.

Is Mikie unhappy or is it just him?

Well I'm glad this forum is so helpful. As my wife is overseas for a month it is just Mikie an me in the house. Let me tell you a bit about his personality. He isn't one who likes to play with humans. He likes to explore and run around by himself. I guess when he was younger we picked him up...

    Soft stool from bunny.

Thank you. My rabbit was weighed yesterday by the vet at 2kg. How many chinese cabbage leaves and pellets should I be feeding him? I always leave plenty of hey in his cage and top it up every few days.

    Soft stool from bunny.

Forgot to ask this also... do the rabbit pellets we feed him expire? They have been in an open bucket for a little while. Is there a sign we can look out for if they do have an expire date? Oh and he just pooped again. This time the poop is back it its normal small round shape but still soft...

    Soft stool from bunny.

Today bunny has been pooping a soft stool. Looks more like something [but smaller] that would come from a dog. His diet has been 1 chinese cabbage leaf a day, 1 carrot a day, rabbit pellets, oat hay (from vet) and green shredded grash/hey type stuff bought from the vet. He likes the carrot best...
