Spaying an older rabbit - any advice?

Thank you for your reply Azerane. I did have the feeling 7 was just a little too old. I think I'd be too worried to go through with it, especially as another female we had spayed had some complications after her op.. it has made me a little paranoid! And no Ginger has never been under anesthetic...

Spaying an older rabbit - any advice?

So I'm looking for some advice about the risks of spaying and anesthetic on an older bun. I have a female bun named Ginger who is around 7 years of age (she was a rescue so can't be too specific) but we've owned her for about 5 years. She has been bonded with a male, neutured rabbit since...

    Bonded pair trouble!

I'd definitely say I notice more of her behaviour in Spring which was why I was thinking it might be hormonal? It never used to be a problem because Blue could easily get away and put her in her place,he's just slowed down a lot with age! Hadn't considered it could be how he smells, they're due...

    Bonded pair trouble!

Hey, wondering if anybody has any suggestions about a bit of bonded pair trouble. Blue (12 years old neutered male) and Ginger (6 years old unneutered female) have been happily bonded and living together for about 3 years now. However, lately i've noticed Ginger is mounting Blue and he's just...

    Rhea

Rhea is a beautiful German Lop, 2 years of age. She's best buddies with Charlie and loves nothing more than getting cuddles, racing around the garden and digging. I've owned her since 2011.

    Charlie

Charlie is the baby of the rabbit family, and he is a little rascal. I've owned him since the summer of 2011 when he was found running about lost at 3 months old and nobody claimed him. He's a fan of digging and is an expert in the art of destruction!

    Ginger

Ginger is a lop of around 6 years, and is the other half of her partner in crime Blue! She's a lovely girl, even though she can be bossy at times. I've had her for 4 years as her old owner couldn't take care of her anymore.

    Blue

Blue is a old guy, now 12 years of age, though you wouldn't have thought it he's so full of energy! He's a rescue bun who ended up at the SSPCA at around 6 months of age and i've had him ever since.

    Rabbit has diarrhoea after neutering?

tamsin, yes it is definitely diarrhoea - very watery. However today it seems mushy but not as watery as it was a few days ago at all. Angie,i'm not sure if she was given a propbiotic, was that something the vet would give? She got another injection aside from the antibiotics on the first day...

    Rabbit has diarrhoea after neutering?

Hey, looking for some advice. My female rabbit Rhea was neutured last Tuesday. Everything went well and she was kept inside for a few days until her eating and behaviour was back to normal. However, 2 days ago i noticed she had stopped eating and was having terrible diarrhoea. Thankfully...

    Mice in bunnys houses...safe?

Hi, wasn't too sure where to post this but decided this forum was my best shot! For a few years i've noticed the odd mouse or two in my rabbits runs but lately i've been having concerns that they can spread viruses etc to my rabbits as they're pooping/peeing in my rabbits food bowls as...
