We had a close call today. I had Bugsy and her 2week old babies out in the yard today, it was in the low 80's, Bugs washopping around alot. The next thing I knew, she was laying stretchedout, panting, had her head back, and her face was wet looking. I knewimmediately that she was over heated. I would never have known what waswrong if I hadn't just read about it on this board. The lastcouple of days I have been reading all the posts on here and just readabout heat stroke yesterday. I picked her up, brought her inthe house and just kept wiping her down with a wet washcloth. I alsorubbed ice cubes on her ears. Once inside, she was even worselooking, she was laying almost on her side with her head onthe floor now, still breathing hard, but very listless, her eyes werehalf closedand had her mouth open. I thought for sure shewasn't going to make it, I have never seen her like this before. I keptdropping water drops in her mouth. Almost as fast as it came on, shesnapped out of it. Within about 15 minutes she was up and cleaningherself. She was still a little sluggish, but she came around and washopping all over. I didn't want to keep her away from her babies fortoo long, so after about an hour I took her back out to her cage. Hercage is in a shed with the doors open, a fan blowing, I rotate frozenwater bottles all day, she's pretty cool out there. Anyways, I justwanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all who contribute to this board, itliterally saved my baby's life today!
