Instead of the SPCA, are there any Rabbit Rescue shelters around that could offer you more help? Getting a friend to adopt might be your only chance of getting her back. Have your friend go in before you release her the the shelter. Have your friend tell them what type of "pet" they are looking for (female, young bunny, black, white, etc) Hopefully, they will match your bunny with your friend "o)

Good Luck!!!

I know someone who rescued a bunny and then contacted a rabbit rescue. She told them she wanted to foster the bunny with the intention to adopt. The rescue paid for the spay and all the bunny's medical bills. So it might be worth trying something like that.

If you surrender her than you won't be able to re-adopt her. But if you explain that you found her and offer to foster you should still have the option of adopting.

Just an idea.

I would definitely explain your situation to the rescue, as I was in a similar situation, except it was a kitten that I found. I wanted to keep him, but my vet charged nearly $300 (!!!) for a simple cat neuter, not including everything else he needed, so I temporarily gave him to a cat rescue. They neutered, vaccinated, and de-wormed him, and I only paid the $70 adoption fee. I would explain to the rescue or SPCA that you intend to keep her, but can't afford the one-time fee of $330 for a routine procedure. You're not "dumping" her at a shelter if you pay the adoption fee, which is usually quite reasonable for rabbits--here in Michigan it's about $50-60, depending on the rescue.
