oxbow hay

I went to a local pet store and they had oxbow timothy hay as well as kaytee timothy hay and a couple other brands and I wanted to get the oxbow but the hay looked brown, not green like the kaytee.

Does the color mean anything? I was afraid the oxbow was too old but I really wanted to get the oxbow as I heard it's a better quality. But I went with kaytee a it looked "fresher" than the others.

Hay should be green, if it's brown, it's too dried or "burned" - mine won't touch the brown hay. Green is much better. Mine will eat both Kaytee & Oxbow - I like the big bags
