The good news is that my lops other ear finally dropped. ButI am really worried because he seems to have a lot of mucus in his eyesespecially in the morning. I've only had the little guy sincefeb 24 but I had hoped it would clear up by now. The bunnythat I bought previously had the same thing but once I put somevitatmins in her water it cleared up. The lop is eating ok,is there anything I can do to help, and do you have any ideas whatcould be causing this?

Any sign of eye/nasal discharge is a red flag andyou should probably take him to to the vet....also, is this rabbit inthe same cage as the rabbit you had before this? Did youclean the cage thorougly before buying this new rabbit? Youdon't want him to catch what the other one had! Hope this helps

My 2 Netherland dwarfs I got last fall, the cageI had then I no longer use at all. My lop I have only had alittle over a week. I have a large wooden cage that is openall of the time and they come and go at will to eat anddrink. They have the full run of my bedroom andbathroom. I have litter pans scattered around the rooms inthe spots they seemed to like and they are almost completely pottytrained. This is my new cage...

Since I picked up my lop at a LPS and don't know the conditions heoriginally came from or what he was fed, is it possible that thedifferent foods are causing this? They have timothy pelletsout all of the time also unlimited timothy and grass hay. Ialso picked up celery, mustard greens, parsley and romaine lettuce forthem. They don't seem that interested in the other stuff butthe lop loves the romaine.

Have you thought of a name for the little guy, yet??

What a cutie!!!!

As was earlier posted, the discharge could be signs of something more serious. Any doubts might warrant a vet visit.

Is there any nasal discharge??

Is the discharge form the eyes clear??

How do his teeth and ears (inside of course) look??

When we first brought our lop, Binkie, home she sneezed a lot and hereyes and nose were runny. It ended up being the dust from the hay andpellets.

Your buns are so cute, and I really like how the cage is put together, now that is something I would like to build. And looks like Ihave the materials. My question being how do you get in toclean the cage, any other pictures of the cage handy?

There are many causes of eye discharge, so youshould have him examined by a vet. Bacterial infections, viral infections, eye gland problems, defects in the eye and toothproblems can all cause "weepy eye". The vet will need toclosely examine the cornea and may want to do a blood test for apossible bacterial infection.

hmm is that the same as having a goober in their eyes, pam?

Bo gets those now and then and I have no clue as to why.

For Debbie- More pics:)

Whoever made this cage did a great job. The dimensions of thecage are 46" wide, 24" deep and 30" high. It looks to me likethe top and side are made of those big wire shelves that you can buythat are made for closets. As you can see the one on top ishinged so it lifts up so you can clean the cage easily. Theyalso have the floor on a base and cut out an area that fits a litterpan that the rim drops down to floor level and can be lifted out toclean, I have 2 litter pans in at this time. I cut out thehole in the front so they can get in and out at will. Theperson who made this cage had a rabbit that died that they didn't wantto replace and was going to throw the cage away, I cleaned it good andstained the outside and am very happy with it.

What a beautiful cage, I might have to look into re-designing the girls condos this summer and that looks like the perfect cage!

You little lop is just too cute! Hope that the eye discharge is nothing to be concerned about...keep us posted.
