First I would like to thank Gypsy for the qurantine post

Honestly, before reading that post I never ever thought of quarantiningthe bunnies before introducing them. When I got Misty, I madesure everyone in my house knew she was NOT to play with Cookie.

A week and a half after bringing her home, I noticed a little 'raw'looking patch under her nose. I thought she hurt herself butit was just wet fur. She sticks her whole face in the bowl ofwater when she drinks, so the wet fur is probably (and hopefully) justwet from her drinking.

Last night however, I had a different thought - what if the wet furisn't from her drinking, but from a runny nose?? I'm hopingthis isn't the case, but she is going to the vet tomorrow and we'llfind out.

Fingers crossed that she's just a messy little drinker.

Do you notice any kind of coloured (white, yellow, etc) discharge from the nose? If not then it's probably nothingbut a trip to the vet can't hurt.

Oh I hope she's OK!
Another clue as to if they have a runny nose - check the inside of herfront legs. If the fur there is 'stiff', it may be a sign she is wipingher nose alot.

Nope, nothing colored - just a little wet nose and upper lip.

I got nervous for a second - but she needs a check up anyway.Haven't taken her to the vet since I got her from the Humane Societyand she had her spay, so she can do with a once over I think.

Thanks guys.

sfritzp - I'll check her paws tonight. That's a good tip!

Poor Misty, hope it's nothing.

If you are going to a vet could you let me know how it turns out, i amplanning to make an appointment for early next week, and you might wantto ask the vet for a once over of fleas, i think Sully brought themfrom the Humane Society.

ps- wondering if you are going to the Kingston Rd vet? A vet tech at myvolunteer hospital recommended someone at Kato animal hospital onDanforth/Main. pm me if you'd like his name, i myself haven't gotten achance to call. Night shift- BOOO!

Boo to the night shift!!

I'm taking her to my current vet in scarborough because I wasn't sureabout a good vet downtown yet. Hmm, I might look into goingto the Danforth/Main one next time.

And I will definately ask the vet about fleas.

Hi, how's Misty doing?

Hey, she's doing good. My vet was on maternity leave, so theysent me to the other vet in the office.... I figured out real quickthat he wasn't rabbit savvy. He didn't know you should freefeed pellets to young buns or that they should have alfalfa... and hedoesn't like to spay rabbits cause he's not "good" at it :?.

But he did say (like Shuu mentioned) if her runny nose isn't likemucus- thicker white or yellow, then I should be too worried, but watch to see if she starts sneezing or for any abcesses anywhere onher body. So... going to keep a watch of her for now, andalso find a rabbit savvy vet in the meantime.

:)
