Hey, I have heard a few times fromdifferent people that lop eared rabbits dont live as long as thenatrual-up earedrabbits. Do lops suffer from more problemsthan up eared? Do any of you know if this is true or not?

I have a 1 year old sticky up ear rabbit (sorry about thedescription lol) and i have caught my eye on a lop eared rabbit and washoping they would live on average near enough the same age so one willnot be missed.

I'm not sure if erect ear rabbits live longerthan lops. But I do believe that lops have a higher propensity to earinfections. If an ear infection went unnoticed, I suppose it could killthem.

:angel:My little Thumper Bunny Rabbit had lopears and lived a healthy life for nine years. He used to pullhis ears forward and clean them daily. I'd check the insidesoften and they were spotless his entire life.

I have a lop as well as 3 other buns.

She is a healthy and happy bun.

As long as her ears are checked often etc.., I cannot see why a Lop can't live to a good age.

I dont know if others will agree, but with my 4, my Lop is the most relaxed from my girls.

Thankyou all for the replies! This seems to be a very popular forum!

I have a rabbit atm called Pepper which i will hopefully be sending youa picture of her soon. The other week my computer got a virus and i hadto re install the whole of windows and lost alot of my photos etc! :-(Which is quite sad because i have lost some pics of my rabbit that diedrecently. (altho i hav posted the one i have on your rainbow bridge!)

I am hopefully getting a rescued Lop on thursdays, if i can persuade my mum to get another friend for Pepper! Fingers crossed.

Pepper has blue eyes, which i thought was very unique!? Have any of youever owned/seen one with blue eyes before? quite amazing rly!

I will tell you when the new arrival arrives! lol Bye, and thankz!

Hye, that isn't true. Lop rabbits live a verylong time for as they can live outside and can live in a hutch. Mysister had a mini lop that was 12 years old when he died when she was14. I don't think New Zealands are awesome rabbits for any weather thatchanges quickly they die. My sister had one. I wouldn't judge on theirage for they can live as long they want to. MY mini lop/holland lopdied by a miss carriage. It all depends on how clean you keep them andhow you take care of them. It doesn't depend on their age its up to youhow long you want to keep them by taking care of them.
