View media item 9742 So I have had Esmeralda for nearly a year and she seemed quite content alone having never been with other bunnies before since I adopted her and with me home most of the time. She is now 2 years old and I have just adopted a male from the shelter who I have been told is also two. Both are neutered and living in separate but adjacent accommodation with so far good signs of bonding. But I really have no clue what breed he is?? They told me he was an English Lop cross. He's currently 3pounds and has a long thin body and long thin face. When I googled English lop it said that they are much larger with longer ears. He also has extremely course hair at the back of his body; his face and neck fur is really soft but you can see from the line across his back where the fur starts being really course. Do you think this is just from where he was found malnourished or could this be because he is a cross? He has a really lovely temperament so far and doesn't appear afraid of me at all, happily sitting with me and laying for head rubs.

I don't feel like it's cause he was found malnourished as my rabbit was malnourished and it's been about 7 months , he's fine now.
He's a japanese harlequin lop , you're rabbit looks very similar , but my rabbit is a lot heavier still tiny but his feet are huge , maybe he's a japanese harlequin lop asswell.
Or just some sort of mix.

I'm 99% sure he's a cross. But I don't know what he could be crossed with that would give him such coarse hair and only at the back of his body?? I don't know if it's only at the back because it's slowly growing out...

I would say English/Dwarf lip cross, mid moult with the old coat coarser than the new one coming through?

Looking a bit like my Smokey she's a bit like a kangaroo her hind legs are larger and very strong and her skull is very narrow she's very gracious here some pics but I never really managed to get a decent photo of her she's very quick. One pic where she's laying is from when she was about 4 months old, now she's about 8 months. Not best pic but you can see her body is heavier at the bottom, longer hind feet etc.

I was told she's full holland lop but I don't think so. I've met her mother she was white with lots of black spots her head was almost all black and they said her father was same they were from same litter just got them from a petstore as two sisters and had an accidental litter a few months after that.

Her mother's head was much bigger and flatter and she was very relaxed complete opposite of Smokey, she's very active.

She's a beauty :)

I think that English lops have a way larger ears but maybe he's mixed indeed.

Oh such a beauty! She has a lot more fur than him! But yes his back half is the same much bigger than the front. We're going to the vets for my own personal check up on tuesday so I will have more information about him then :)

Happy and healthy is all we care about. We got one from a shelter and was told she was a full grown English Spot mix. Very skinny and 7 pounds. Turned out to be a Checkered Giant and grew to 20 pounds, so she was only 3 months old when she came to us. She was huge and a total lap-bunny. Should have asked our "magic 8 ball" instead--best guess is still a guess.

This little guy was caught in the wild, and I adopted him.
He is a Rex, with a tan lion mane on the back of his neck.
I've gone through just about every bad attitude, chewing my new carpet, eating the wood on my furniture, and using my place as his personal toilet! Lol. Patients is the key! After working with him, doing a lot research, and understanding what they want, and need, Otto is now potty trained, runs loose all day, and has stopped chewing my carpet, and furniture.
Any questions are welcome, and would love to help you understand your rabbit.

Be blessed

Teffonie

Just by the weight you say he is 3 pounds and by the color I would say it is mixed possibly with a Holland lop. I am 99% sure it is an English cross or french cross. English and French get mixed up quite easily because they looks so similar

This is just to show one of the many colors a Holland lop looks like. This color looks like your rabbit and not to many rabbit breeds have this color (This is a really bad show Holland lop because the ears are pretty long and he doesn't have much of a smushed face)

This is a French lop (also by RabbitPedia.com)

This is a English so I am kinda thinking your rabbit might be a mix of both English and French because the ears seem to long to be French but not long enough for an English lop.
I hope this helped
