Wondering if anyone has any advice... I adopted a 4-year-old mini lop boy, Clive, to bond with 8 month old girl, Betty. Betty was neutered months ago, and Clive when I got him (3 weeks ago). Both healed with no problems.

They’ve a 10 minute dates each day for about a week now (after a week of meeting through cage bars). There had been no fighting, no aggression, and lots of great signs, such as her licking his face. They also kiss through cage bars and lie next to each other when in their separate cages.

Only problem is... he will NOT stop humping her! Bum AND face! I know some is to be expected, but it’s relentless. She sometimes accepts it and sometimes hops away, but has never been aggressive or even nipped him.

I try to get him off her when possible, especially the face ones. They seem to love each other so much, but it’s obviously annoying for Betty.

Any help in how to get it to stop?!

In males, hormones take 6-8 weeks to dissipate completely. I would delay any further bonding sessions for 3-5 weeks and then resume once his hormones are actually gone. Once they're out of the equation, I would resume 10 minute sessions and (so long as humping doesn't derail them) increase the session length each day, making sure to end on a positive note.

[Edit: the fact that she's so accepting of the relentless humping, even when he humps the wrong end, suggests that you'll have an easy time bonding them once his hormones are gone :).]
