Hello bunny lovers,

Wondering if any of you can help me? I have a 7 year old bunny. She seems a lot bonier in the last month. I can feel her spine when I hold her.

Today she has a type of forced breathing. She breathes but kind of moves her head forward with each exhale. She's eating and pooping normally and has normal energy.

Any idea?

Thank you!!

I agree. A rabbit not breathing normally warrants a vet visit - it won't get better on its own and the condition causing it is probably treatable but it's best not to wait until it gets worse (you know how it is with rabbits... they aren't that fragile but when they get something, the odds are a lot better if you hurry to get them treated). Your bunny might possibly need antibiotics if it's caused by an infection, but it can be a 'mechanical' problem too (a hay bit stuck somewhere in her nose...)... 7 years old isn't that old, but you've still got a 'senior' rabbit so at this age (like with humans), some body functions can get out of whack and need a little more help than they did before.

No problem ^^ I hope the problem will be solved quickly!
