I've noticed that one eye on my rabbit Oreo has clouded over. 1 emergency vets appointment later we found out that he's got a cataract in his right eye and looks like he might be getting one in his left. He's only 3. Has anyone got any advice or has a rabbit with a similar condition. We will take him to the vets for a proper check. 🙁

Our avatar, Nikki, got one 3 years ago and last year her other eye went also. She can tell light from dark, but can't see anymore. No one here to take her to and it would probably take 5 or 6 months of my retirement, or more. She still gets around in the room fine and even runs and binkies. She's also over 10, so doing something about it at her age isn't really worth--she's happy and has a good appetite so we're fine with it.

Cataracts in rabbits can also be associated with E. cuniculi. In general animals affected by cataracts do quite well even as their vision declines but it's definitely worth a check by a rabbit savvy vet and you might also consider referral to a veterinary ophthalmologist for more options.
